Question 72

If $$(2x - 7)^3 + (2x - 8)^3 + (2x - 3)^3 = 3 (2x - 7) (2x - 8) (2x - 3 )$$, then what is the value of $$x$$ ?

Solution

Let  2x - 7 = a ; 2x - 8 = b and 2x - 3 = c

By putting values in equation given in the question, we get

$$a^3+b^3+c^3\ =\ 3abc$$
so we can say a+b+c =0
Therefore we get 2x - 7 + 2x - 8 + 2x - 3 = 0
we get 6x - 18=0
6x = 18
x = 3

Hence, Option A is correct.
