Statement I: The law of gravitation holds good for any pair of bodies in the universe.
Newton's law of universal gravitation states that every particle in the universe attracts every other particle with a force proportional to the product of their masses and inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them. Statement II: The weight of any person becomes zero when the person is at the centre of the earth.
At the centre of the earth, the gravitational field is zero because the gravitational pull from all directions cancels out. The acceleration due to gravity at the centre is $$g = 0$$.
Since weight $$W = mg$$, and $$g = 0$$ at the centre:
$$W = m \times 0 = 0$$
So, Statement II is also true.
