Question 69

A man covers a certain distance on scooter had he moved 3 km/hr faster he would have taken 40 minutes less. If had moved 2 km/hr slower, he would have taken 40 minutes more. The distance in km is

If he move 3 km/hr faster he would have taken 40 minutes less,

$$\frac{D}{S} - \frac{D}{S + 3} = \frac{40}{60}$$ ..........(1)

If he move 2 km/hr slower, he would have taken 40 minutes more,

$$\frac{D}{S - 2} - \frac{D}{S} = \frac{40}{60}$$ ..........(2)

After solving both the equations we get

$$S = 12$$ kmph

$$D=40$$ km

Hence, option D is the correct answer.
