The price of two articles are in the ratio of 5 : 6 respectively. The price of first article is increased by 30% and the price of second article is decreased by X%. If the new ratio is 13 : 11 respectively, then what is the value of X?
Let the Cost Price of two articles be Rs.500 and Rs.600
Price of first article is increased by 30$ => 130% of 500 = Rs.650
Price of second article is decreased by X% => (100-X)% of 600 = Rs.(600-6X)
Given, 650 : 600-6X = 13 : 11
=> $$(600-6X)\times13 = 650\times11$$
=> $$600-6X = 550$$
=> $$6X = 50$$
=> $$X = 8.33$$
