Gopal covers 100 km. He travels at a speed of 60 kmph for the first 40 km and the rest of the distance at 60 kmph. What is his average speed in kmph?
Solution
Time taken for first 40 km = $$\frac{40}{60}=0.66$$ hr
Time taken for 60 km = $$\frac{60}{60}=1$$ hr
Average speed = $$\frac{Total\ dis\tan ce}{Total\ time}=\frac{100}{1.66}=60\ kmph$$
And also there is no change in speed so average speed will be same 60 kmph.
