An iron cube of size 10 cm is hammered into a rectangular sheet of thickness 0.5 cm. If the sides of the sheet be in the ratio 1 : 5, then the sides are

Solution

Let sides of sheet be $$x$$ and $$5x$$ cm and height = 0.5 cm

Volume of cuboid = Volume of cube

=> $$lbh=a^3$$

=> $$x\times5x\times0.5=(10)^3$$

=> $$5x^2=2000$$

=> $$x=\sqrt{400}=20$$

$$\therefore$$ Sides are 20, 100 cm

=> Ans - (A)
