Question 61

A person driving at the speed of 45 km/h reaches office 1 minute early while she reaches 3
minutes late if driving at 40 km/hr. Whatis the distance (in km) that she is covering?

Solution

so correct answer should be 24 km

Let distance = x km.
Time taken at 45 kmph : dist/speed = $$\frac{x}{45}$$ = 1 min early
time taken at 40 kmph :  $$\frac{x}{40}$$ = 3 min late

difference between time taken : 1-(-3) = 4 mins =  $$\frac{4}{60}$$ hours.

$$\frac{x}{40}$$ -  $$\frac{x}{45}$$ =  $$\frac{4}{60}$$ hours.

$$\frac{x}{360}$$ hours

$$\frac{x}{360}$$ =  $$\frac{4}{60}$$

x = 24 km.
