Question 56

Of three numbers A , B and C, B = 2A = 3C. Their average is 44. What is the smallest of these numbers ?

Solution

B = 2A = 3C . let A =X

$$X+2X+2X/3 =132$$

$$\frac{(3X+6X+2X)}{3}=132$$

$$\frac{11X}{3}=132$$

11X=$$132\times 3$$=396

X=$$396\div 11$$=36

Therefore the numbers are

X=36

2X=72 and

smallest no =$$\frac{2X}{3}$$=24
