Question 54

train travelling at the speed of 66 km/h crosses a 300 m long platform in 24 seconds. How long was the train?

Solution

correct answer should be 140 m

let the length of the train be x, then total distance travelled by train to cross the platform= 300+x

also, speed of train= 66 kmph=$$\frac{55}{3}$$ mps

speed= let the length of the train be x, then total distance travelled by train to cross the platform= 300+x

also, speed of train= 66 kmph= $$\frac{55}{3}$$ mps
300+x=  $$24\times \frac{55}{3}$$

300+x=440

so x=140m
