Question 51

If $$x^{2} - 4x+4=0 $$, then the value of 16$$(x^{4} - \frac{1}{x^{4}})$$ is

Solution

$$x^{2} —4x+4=0 $$

$$x^{2} —2x - 2x+4=0 $$

$$x(x — 2) - 2(x — 2)=0 $$

$$(x — 2)(x — 2)=0 $$

x = 2

now,

16$$(x^{4}-\frac{1}{x^{4}})$$

= 16$$(2^{4}-\frac{1}{2^{4}})$$

= 16$$(16-\frac{1}{16})$$

= $$16^2 - 1$$ = 255
