On compound interest a certain sum of money amounts to Rs. 34,560 in 2 years and to Rs. 41,472 in 3 years at the same rate of interest. Find the rate of interest per annum.
The amount after 3 years is the amount after 2 years grown for one more year. So $$1 + \frac{r}{100} = \frac{41472}{34560} = 1.2$$. Hence the rate is $$20\%$$ per annum.
