tower was 45 m high, how far away from the tower was the platform positioned?

Solution

In Triangle ADE , $$\tan30^\circ$$ = $$\frac{AE}{DE}$$

$$\Rightarrow$$ $$\frac{1}{\sqrt3}$$ = $$\frac{40}{DE}$$
$$\Rightarrow$$ DE = $$40\sqrt3$$m
