My mother says that in her childhood the price of petrol was Rs. 15 per litre. It is Rs. 72 per litre today. By what percentage the price of petrol has gone up?
The increase in price is $$72 - 15 = 57$$ rupees. As a percentage of the original price, this is $$\frac{57}{15} \times 100 = 380\%$$.
