A block of mass $$M$$ is displaced through $$s$$ from rest by applying a constant force $$F$$. If work done by the force equals increase in kinetic energy of the block, its velocity is
Work done $$= FS$$ and the gain in kinetic energy from rest is $$\frac{1}{2}Mv^2$$. Equating, $$FS = \frac{1}{2}Mv^2$$, so $$v = \sqrt{\frac{2FS}{M}}$$.
