Exactly 2 gm of NaOH is dissolved in water to makeup 1 litre of solution. The pH of the solution found to be higher than 7. The HCl gas is then bubbled through this solution at the rate of 1 gm/min. After how many minutes will the pH become 7? __________
Correct Answer: 1.825
2 g of NaOH is $$\frac{2}{40} = 0.05$$ mol, so 0.05 mol of HCl is needed for neutralisation. That is $$0.05 \times 36.5 = 1.825\text{ g}$$ of HCl, which takes $$1.825$$ minutes at $$1\text{ g/min}$$.
