The primary and secondary valencies of cobalt respectively in Co(NH$$_3$$)$$_5$$ClCl$$_2$$ are:
In $$[Co(NH_3)_5Cl]Cl_2$$:
Primary valency (oxidation state of Co) = +3 (since total charge: 5(0) + (-1) + Co = +2 from 2Cl⁻, so Co = +3).
Secondary valency (coordination number) = 6 (5 NH₃ + 1 Cl⁻ in the coordination sphere).
Therefore, primary valency = 3 and secondary valency = 6.
