The temperature, at which readings in Celsius and Fahrenheit are equal, is
The conversion rule is $$F = \frac{9}{5}C + 32$$. Putting $$F = C = x$$ gives $$x = \frac{9}{5}x + 32$$, so $$-\frac{4}{5}x = 32$$ and $$x = -40$$. So both scales read $$-40^\circ$$ at the same temperature.
