A shopkeeper was selling all his items at $$25\%$$ discount. During the off season, he offered $$30\%$$ discount over and above the existing discount. If an item is marked for Rs. 2,400, then how much the customer has to pay for it?
After the first discount the price is $$2400 \times 0.75 = 1800$$ rupees. The extra $$30\%$$ discount is on this price, so the customer pays $$1800 \times 0.70 = 1260$$ rupees.
