How many total terms, 'the square terms' and 'the product terms' will the expansion of $$(x_1 + x_2 + \cdots + x_{20})^2$$ contain?
The expansion has 20 square terms $$x_i^2$$ and one product term $$2x_ix_j$$ for each pair $$i < j$$, i.e. $$\binom{20}{2} = 190$$ product terms. The total number of distinct terms is $$20 + 190 = 210$$.
