Question 2

$$P$$ is a point between the parallel lines $$\overleftrightarrow{AB}$$, $$\overleftrightarrow{CD}$$ such that $$A$$ and $$C$$ lie on the same side of the line perpendicular to the parallel lines and passing through $$P$$. $$\angle PAB = 40^\circ$$ and $$\angle PCD = 60^\circ$$ then $$\angle APC =$$

Solution

Draw through $$P$$ a line parallel to $$AB$$ and $$CD$$. Since the angles at $$A$$ and $$C$$ are acute, $$B$$ and $$D$$ lie towards $$P$$'s side, and by alternate angles the parallel line through $$P$$ makes $$40^\circ$$ with $$PA$$ and $$60^\circ$$ with $$PC$$, on opposite sides of it. So $$\angle APC = 40^\circ + 60^\circ = 100^\circ$$.
