Question 153

Length of the floor of a rectangular auditorium is 6 metre more than the radius of a circle with a circumference of 572 m. The perimeter of the floor of the rectangular auditorium is 356 m. What will be cost of flooring the auditorium (only the floor of the auditorium), if the cost of flooring is Rs. 12/m2 ?

Solution

Circumference of circle=$$2\times{\pi}\times{r}$$.('r' is radius of circle)
$$2\times{\pi}\times{r} = 572$$.
$$r = 91m$$.
Length of rectangle = 91+6.
= 97 m.
Perimeter of rectangle = 2(Length+Breadth).
Breadth+91=178.
Breadth=87.
Area of rectangle = $$91\times87$$.
$$=7917 m^{2}$$.
Cost of flooring = $$7917\times12$$.
$$= Rs. 94,284$$.
Hence, Option C is correct.
