Question 139

The length and breadth of a rectangle are in the: ratio of 4 : 3 respectively and its area is 1728 m . Find the perimeter of rectangle? (in m)

Solution

Let the length and breadth of the rectangle be $$4x$$ and $$3x$$

=> Area of rectangle = $$4x \times 3x = 1728$$

=> $$x^2 = \frac{1728}{12} = 144$$

=> $$x = \sqrt{144} = 12$$

$$\therefore$$ Perimeter of rectangle = $$2 (4x + 3x)$$

= $$14x = 14 \times 12$$

= $$168$$ metre
