When we consider team as a unit, we consider it as singular. The team has signed a MOU means the team as a unit signed an MOU. 'to fund their overseas tours' means we are considering each individual player who got funded for their overseas tour.
Both the usage are correct:'to fund their overseas tours' or 'to fund its overseas tours'
