Hi Ariind, "We advise you to not leave your job while preparing for CAT. Firstly, defending a gap year could be quite tricky; unless you have a really strong reason, taking a year-long gap simply for exam preparation might not be viewed favourably by the interviewers. Secondly, adding a year to your work-ex could help you when the composite scores are computed. Finally, CAT as an exam is not as demanding as it is generally perceived to be; you can work and prepare concurrently."

A few months gap won't matter much in interviews. I'm leaving my job next month to devote my entire time for CAT prep as well.
Also, in case you find questions directed towards it, you can always make the case that you've been focused on profile building, doing certifications or mention medical/personal reasons.
