Just try to draw venn diagrams to negate what is being said. If you can negate the given statement then the conclusion will not be valid.I personally find it to be the best and fastest method to find syllogisms. in the explanation it is written that the word "told" is the error as the entire sentence is in present tense.but when any universal truth is spoken,we write- he "said" or "told" (the universal truth which always remains in the present tense )here also- they told something...are....something....hence i think no error.
