Let Marked Price of the machine = $$Rs. 100x$$
If discount is 24%, Selling price = $$\frac{100 - 24}{100} \times 100x = 76x$$
According to ques, => $$76x = 38000$$
=> $$x = \frac{38000}{76} = 500$$
If discount is 40%, selling price = $$\frac{100 - 40}{100} \times 100x = 60x$$
= $$60 \times 500 = Rs. 30,000$$
