X and Y together have ₹1300. If ₹10 less than three-fifth of the amount of X is equal to half of the amount of Y, then how much does X have?
X and Y together have ₹1300.
X + Y = 1300 Eq.(i)
If ₹10 less than three-fifth of the amount of X is equal to half of the amount of Y.
$$\frac{3}{5}$$ of X - 10 = $$\frac{1}{2}$$ of Y
0.6X - 10 = 0.5Y
Multiply the above equation by 2.
1.2X - 20 = Y Eq.(ii)
Put the value of 'Y' from Eq.(ii) to Eq.(i).
X + (1.2X - 20) = 1300
2.2X - 20 = 1300
2.2X = 1320
The amount of money X has = ₹600
