Question 62

There are a total of 43800 students in 4 schools of a city. Half the number of students of the first school, two-thirds of the second, three-fourth of the third and four-fifths of the fourth are all equal. What is the ratio of the number of students of A to D, if A, B, C and D be the first, second, third and fourth schools, respectively?

Solution

Given,

Total number of students in 4 schools of a city = 43,800 and

$$\frac{1}{2}(A) = \frac{2}{3}(B) = \frac{3}{4}(C) = \frac{4}{5}(C)$$

$$A : B = 4 : 3$$ and

$$B : D = 6 : 5$$

Now, $$A : B : D = 8 : 6 : 5$$

$$A : D = 8 : 5$$

Hence, option A is the correct answer.
