Question 44

10 identical solid spherical balls of radius 3 cm are melted to form a single sphere. In this process 20% of solid is wasted. What is the radius (in cm) of the bigger sphere?

Solution

Given volume=$$10\times0.8(4/3)\pi r^{3}$$
Let the radius of bigger sphere=R
$$(4/3)\pi R^{3}$$=$$10\times0.8(4/3)\pi r^{3}$$
 $$R^{3}$$=8*27
R=6 cm
