The two equations are 4x + 4ky-6=0 and x+6y-12=0. Find the value of k for the pair of two linear equations represents the parallel lines.
Equations : $$4x+4ky-6=0$$
and $$x+6y-12=0$$
Slopes of two parallel lines is equal, and slope of an equation is defined as the negative ratio of coefficient of $$x$$ to the coefficient of $$y$$.
=> Slope of equation (i) = Slope of equation (ii)
=> $$\frac{-4x}{4k}=\frac{-1}{6}$$
=> $$\frac{1}{k}=\frac{1}{6}$$
=> $$k=6$$
