The age of a father is twice the age of his son. Five years ago, the father's age was thrice the age of the son then. What is the age of the son now?

Solution

Let the age of son's be x years then the age of father's be 2x years

According to the question,

$$3(x-5) = (2x-5)$$

$$3x-15=2x-5$$

$$x=10$$

So, age of son now is 10 years.
