A man travels 10 km towards west, then he takes a turn towards northeast and travels 20 km in the direction. He again takes a turn towards southeast and covers 5 km. Taking starting point as the origin, in which direction is he now?

Solution

Let the man starts from point A and travels 10 km towards west to reach B, then he takes a turn towards north-east and travels 20 km to reach C. He again takes a turn towards south-east and covers 5 km to finally stop at point D.

Thus, he is north-east of his original position.
