Question 134

The marked price of a mixie is 1600, The shopkeeper gives successive discounts of Question 10% and x% to the customer. If the customer pays 1224 for the mixie, find the value of x

Solution

Marked price = 1600

After 1st discount of 10% => 10% of 1600 = $$\frac{10}{100}$$ * 1600 = 160

Amount payable = 1600 - 160 = 1440

After 2nd discount of $$x$$%

=> $$x$$% of 1440 = $$\frac{x}{100} * 1440 = 14.4x$$

=> Customer will pay = 1440 - $$14.4x$$ = 1224

=> $$14.4x$$ = 216

=> $$x$$ = 15
