Question 132

A skilled, a half skilled and an unskilled labourer work for 7, 8 and 10 days respectively and they together get 369 for their work. If the ratio of their each day’s work is 1/3 : 1/4 : 1/6, then how much does the trained labourer get (in rupees) ?

Solution

lcm of 3,4,6 = 12

multiply the work ratio by 12 for easier calculation = 4:3:2

let total work per day be y

so the work done by 3 workers is 4y,3y,2y respectively

total work of skilled = 4y*7 = 28y

total work of half skilled = 3y*8 = 24y

total work of unskilled = 2y*10 = 20y

total combined work = 72y

so skilled will receive = $$\frac{28y}{72y}$$*369 = 143.5
