I was in slot 3.
Cat 2021 was nothing like Cat 2020 to say the least. With the reduction of the number of sets in the LRDI section, set selection became a big headache. I spent the first 10 mins before picking up the 4th set eventually. I could only solve the 3 questions in that set. Then i switched to the 1st set(6 questions) I could solve only 4 in this too, so in total only 7 attempts in LRDI section. I felt so hopeless after this I messed up quant by attempting just 12 questions. I prepared since Feb and going through all these youtube videos of top 25 lrdi sets, top 100 quant questions and many more......... If i think about all this now, i feel hopeless and miserable. But such is life..... :(

Hi
I was in slot 2
This discussion brings me a lot of hope and thanks to debraj mitra for the thread. I was a diligent cracku mocks solver and still i felt the slot 2 was deceptively tough. My attempts were 17/10/10 out of which i am expecting only 7/8 with 100% accuracy in quants. There was no freebies in my slot and i would challenge anyone to death if they refute my case. DILR was nightmarish and still haven't fully woken up from the section. I had missed the DI set and still stamp myself for that. I'm pretty good at verbal but still there is relatively less noise about verbal in youtube which i think would be a game changer for many. I am not underestimating that section as it was deceptively tough. Only 2 were doable sets with almost nil fact based questions even in them,VA on par with last year's. I hope i make it through.
My takeaways:
1) This exam tests you a whole lot on temperament and picking yourself up after getting beat down in each section.
2) Not go with pre-determined attempts as it can severely kill the attempt.
3) IIM has done a neat job in keeping the difficulty almost similar in each slots and i think the discussion of whether slot1/2/3 is tough is bogus according to me.
4) This is not a rant and not a complaint but a key note to the future aspirants is that don't complain that your mocks are tough and not at par with CAT level because i think each coaching institute is doing their best to keep you hard-headed during your D-DAY ( Especially CRACKU). All the best to every1 and hope you make it to your dream B-schools.

Here it goes - : Mine is slot 2
VARC /LRDI /QA : 15/6/15 attempts
After some introspection, I'm getting something like: 30/8/32 = 70 ish marks in total. This comes from checking answers here and there over youtube.
I agree with you that LRDI was tough. I revised all DC's from 1-10 2 days before the exam, revised the expected 25 sets, revised the EG 4hr video, did a lot of daily targets , and ended up screwing my LRDI section.
Do you know what feels bad? When you do 2 sections fairly well and because of one section, your entire year gets wasted. If anything at this point, I can only hope to receive calls from IIMs/IITs that do not require a sectional cutoff. The best part is that I didn't apply for any other exam. This paper felt like a tough simcat instead of a cracku mock.( I gave more than 35 simcats, in addition to 10 dashcats). I'm really disappointed in my abilities. I could have done much better.
Keeping fingers crossed....

Slot 3. Attempt 17/9/6
Verbal was easy and easier than cat 2020 but had one somewhat tough RC and one Really touch PJ.
LRDI I felt the 4 question set on mixing was easy and I did the question creation and checking set which was of moderate difficulty. No gurantee any of them are correct.
Quants was all kinds of fucked with no easy questions and they felt like they wanted to mix critial reasoning questions along with regular maths and that's what they came up with. This went horrible.

SLOT-1
VARC/DILR/QUANT-13/6/13
VARC- I WAS LIKE "WHAT IS HAPPENING HERE"
DILR-I TOLD MYSELF "ATLEAST THAT PERSON(QUESTION PAPER SETTER) FELT LIKE KEEPING ONE EASY DI'.
QUANT-I TOLD MYSELF "THANKS TO DASHCAT & MARUTI SIR"
VARC was tricky and i couldnt eliminate options easily.(waiting for response sheet to check my answers).
DILR was tough .i could do only the DI.
QUANT,i personally feel that dashcat helped me a lot.otherwise my attempts would have gone down.
I FELT CAT 2021 WAS HARDER COMPARED TO CAT 2020.

Slot - 2
My attempts are 15-10-15.
VARC: Honestly I'm relying mostly on the Truth & Power and Multilingual set + 3 VA questions. Expecting around 10 correct in section.
LRDI: My first set was the selection set [O1, O2...] & for some reason I started attempting it (BRAINDEAD CHOICE OF THE YEAR). After wasting 13 mins and 48 seconds I left that set (fortunately) and got the DI & Ratings sets done. [5/6 correct in Ratings set & 4/4 correct in DI set].
QA: After witnessing the biggest fart from my brain (yet) in the LRDI section, I decided to be a bit cautious in QA & attempted the questions which would take less time or were not lengthy. Based on BYJU's key I'm getting around 13/14 correct.
The total score (hopefully) is around 92.
If I get into FMS I think I can forget about this nightmare, else have to try again ig.

had a similar experience like abhi..
attempt 17/14/7
varc and lrdi am expecting 30 each and might go higher but i messed up quants pretty bad..
first 7mins into quants did 3 questions correct and that is where i got overconfident and went on to mess up my paper went with the strategy of first 25mins only arithmetic but didnt follow my strategy and started attempting sums which i never did in mocks and when the time was over i couldnt even see all the questions in the paper and did 3 correct and 4 wrong...
so 30+30+7 and i have ended my chances for this year...
hope other exams go well...
all the best everyone...

Slot 1
VARC 13 - DILR 7 - QA 14
VARC - The passages were simple to read but the questions were subjective (almost all) and tricky (which among the following cannot be inferred, what does the author least agree with, etc.). The one passage on utopia and dystopia should have been left alone.
DILR: Absolutely nightmarish. I'll be honest, DILR always has been my weakest section but CAT was just another level. The 4 sets limited the choices you earlier had. Except that one DI set, I kept flipping between the two 6 ques sets.
QA: I attempted 14 and am quite confident of a 100% accuracy here. I felt this section was easy. Maybe because we've been conditioned to solve tougher ques in DASHCATS and SIMCATS. Infact, a couple of questions were almost similar to the ones discussed by Maruti sir in the live workshops. Very grateful for those sessions!
Now, just hoping my 7 attempts in DILR are enough to clear the sectional cutoff :/

Hi friends, I was a consistent mock solver, even used to get ranks U10 in SIMCATS. Mine was slot 1. My attempts were 20/12/18. It all started with a lot of chaos and turbulence in the center as I logged in a bit earlier and announcement was still going on regarding the do's and don'ts, so, couldn't focus that well in the first 4 mins. It led to a lot of panic and stress. Somehow strategized things and made a comprehensive recovery in the section but still couldn't attempt as per expectation. This led to a feeling of not doing that well in the VARC thereby hoping to manage my attempts in LRDI. Since LRDI was reasonably tough, I tried solving full sets but couldn't except one. So, in the bid to have decent attempts, took chances in two options in 3 questions which will be the game decider in the run up to the results. Since, after having not that good first 2/3rd portion, couldn't perform at par in QA too which happens to be my pet section. Overall, really disappointed with the exam, hoping to get back to terms with whatever happened and preparing for upcoming ADMETS.

SLOT-3
Attempts 16/14/8
I am not a top scorer in DASHCATS but performs decently. VARC was moderate - difficult with couple of doable sets and 2 tricky ones (fingers crossed and waiting for answer key). I was just shuffling between questions for first 5-7 minutes as I did not see such sets during my practice and was blacked out for a while. Started solving the DI (Bar Graph) set after sometime and I was able to breathe and solve it followed by questions review (6 questions) set. I did attempt the mixtures set as I felt it was easy but doesn't feel confidence enough after watching many analysis videos on YT. So, I am counting on other two sets and hoping to get them correct. I have wasted time trying to solve few questions in Quant and ended up not solving them as I felt I was taking a lot of time. This way, I was only able to attempt 8 questions in which two were wrong already (not sure of other answers). I have very less hope in achieving the sectional cut off and wish I score well in VARC & DILR, change in marks vs percentile pattern this year or scale up in Quant :P.
But yeah, I have attempted all slots from CAT 2020 which had considerable easy-moderate level questions but definitely IIM-A did not give an easy spot in any section w.r.t difficulty and ease of choosing a set or question this year.

My attempts were
VARC/LRDI/QUANT:- 15/7/20 (slot 2).
This year of my attempt depends solely on verbal section, because va I think I have done okay but not in RC. Not sure of the answers in rc. Panicked at the start of varc because passages were not from my domain. They were abstract concepts/philosophical.
Even after reading almost all passages from aeon since july, i felt like an idiot.
slot 1 20/5/10 .after checking it im getting 14-15 right in VARC 1 wrong in LRDI and 4 wrong in quants. I finished DI set then wasted almost 25 mins on friends acquiantances strangers set, and only expecting 11 in DILR, it is depressing considering its my 3rd attempt. and i always used to score 20-33 range in DILR in mocks. PLus that affected quants as my accuracy went bad as well.it took a lot of time to solve quant questions. expecting a 60 least

slot 2
attempts VARC- 19 LRDI - 14 QA - 13
i think that i would have rc correct and rest 7 of va are doubtful. In lr the bar chart one is doubtful and i did ranking one also. qa i have doubts on 2-3 question. In my opinion this time it was comparatively easier than 2020 at that time i was unable to even understand some questions. This time i was atleast able to understand most of the questions. Hopeful that i did less silly mistakes.
