Wrought Iron is the purest form of Iron containing 0.12–0.25 carbon. The purity of iron is classified through the basis of carbon content present in it. Iron is a chemical element with atomic number 26 and symbol Fe(from Latin word ferrum). In the periodic table, it is present in the first transition series. It is the fourth most abundant metal available in the earth crust. Like other metals, Iron is not present in earth as its pure form readily corrodes from exposure to moisture or at high temperature. The production of Iron or steel takes place in two stages. Pig iron that is produced from the blast furnace in the first stage is converted into wrought iron, steel or cast iron.
