in an election there are five candidates and three members are to be elected and an elector can vote for any no. of candidate not greater than the no. to be elected. then the no. of ways the elector may vote is?

If I have understood the question correctly, the answer should be 26. He can either vote for 1 person which would be 5C1, or 2 which would be 5C2 , or 3 which would be 5C3 or none. So it should be 1 + 5 + 10 + 10 = 26
