If the Bombay Municipal Corporation continues to collect garbage from its residents at the current level, the landfills would be overflowing very soon. The BMC would then be forced to take additional land from the forest area that is adjacent to the present landfill site in order to meet the growing needs. In order to avoid this situation, the BMC has decided to increase the collection fee per kilo of garbage from the residents and thus, protect the forest area.

My opinion:- Option B would be the correct
conclusion. But acc to u the answer is D.

The conclusion in the paragraph is that by increasing the garbage collection fee, the forest areas can be protected. Hence we have to look for an option which negates this comclusion. 2 says people will be more careful and will use long lasting methods. This supports the author's conclusion. D is the only option which negates the conclusion as it highlights the fallacy in the author's argument. The author assumes that people will continue to use legal ways to dispose off their garbage. He ignores the fact that people can use other ways to dispose their garbage. Hence option D is the correct answer.
