Hi Rima,
In this question, FONT is coded as 714. GLUE is coded as 494. Now if we calculate the rank of 'F', O, N, and T in alphabetical order, we will get 6, 15, 14, and 20, respectively. If we do (F+O)*(N+T) = (6+15)*(20+14) = 21*34 = 714.
Similarly, for GLUE, the rank of G, L, U, and E in alphabetical order is 7, 12, 21, and 5, respectively. If we do (G+L)*(U+E) = 19*26 = 494.
Therefore, JOKE can be coded as (J+O) * (K+E) = (10+15)*(11+5) = 25*16 = 400.
