An insect metamorphosizes into an ant then a spider and then a cockroach, when it moves through the three rooms Abba, Dabba , Jabba respectively situated in a nuclear plant. An ant has the ability to move only along the edges whereas a spider can move move along the walls and a cockroach can fly. The insect is smart and will cover the least amount of distance wherever possible. The three rooms are on the same floor with a height of 10 m.The floor of Abba is a square of size 10m*10m , Dabba's floor is a rectangle with dimensions as 15m*20m and Jabba’s floor is circular in nature with radius of 5m.What is the distance covered (in metres) by the insect when it crosses Jabba and Dabba?

Hi
While crossing Dabba the insect would be in the form of a spider. A spider can move along the walls. So the minimum distance that the spider will take to reach the opposite vertex would be 10rt2. Similarly, the cockroach can fly, so the distance covered by cockroach would also be 10rt 2. Hence the total distance would be 20rt2.
Hope that helps.
