A rectangular swimming pool is 48m long and 20 m wide. the shallow edge of the pool is 1 m deep. For every 2.6 m that one walks up the inclines base of the swimming pool , one gains an elevation of 1m. What is the volume of the water( in cubic metres) in the swimming pool. Assume that pool is filled up to brim.

Hi Anuj,
It will be slightly difficult to explain this question without a diagram but let me try to explain it. Firstly forget about the inclined part and just calculate the volume of cuboid which is 48*20*1 = 960. Now imagine the triangular part to be a full solid cuboid which is cutoff from the middle. So its volume would be 48*20*20/2 = 9600, So total volume = 9600+960 = 10570.
