I think the process followed was wrong as there can't be more than one 3x3x3 cube visually in the 5x5x5 cube (As was done in the minimum case where in 27z, z was taken as 4, in 8y, y was taken as 2 and finally x was taken as 1), I agree with the maximum case where I got 85 cubes too, but the minimum case is not digestible..
