A mixture contains liquid A and liquid B in the ratio of 5 : 4. If 2 litres of liquid B is added to it, then the ratio of liquid A and liquid B becomes 7 : 6. What is the quantity (in litres) of liquid A in the mixture?

Solution

Let quantity of liquid A and liquid B be $$5x$$ and $$4x$$ litres respectively.

According to ques,

=> $$\frac{5x}{4x+2}=\frac{7}{6}$$

=> $$30x=28x+14$$

=> $$30x-28x=2x=14$$

=> $$x=\frac{14}{2}=7$$

$$\therefore$$ Total quantity of liquid A = $$5\times7=35$$ litres

=> Ans - (B)
