A vendor buys some bananas at the rate of 2 for Re 1 and sells at the rate of 10 for Rs 7. What will be the result?
The vendor buys 2 bananas for Re 1
=> Cost price of 1 banana = $$\frac{1}{2}$$ = Rs 0.5
He sells 10 bananas for Rs. 7
=> Selling price of 1 banana = $$\frac{7}{10}$$ =Â Rs 0.7
$$\because$$ Selling price is more than Cost price, the vendor earns a profit
=> Profit % = $$\frac{(0.7 - 0.5)}{0.5} \times 100$$
= $$\frac{2}{5} \times 100 = 40\%$$
