The sum of a fraction and 3 times its reciprocal is 37/10. What is the fraction?

Solution

Let the fraction be $$x$$

According to ques,

=> $$x+\frac{3}{x}=\frac{37}{10}$$

=> $$\frac{x^2+3}{x}=\frac{37}{10}$$

=> $$10x^2+30=37x$$

=> $$10x^2-37x+30=0$$

=> $$10x^2-25x-12x+30=0$$

=> $$5x(2x-5)-6(2x-5)=0$$

=> $$(2x-5)(5x-6)=0$$

=> $$x=\frac{5}{2},\frac{6}{5}$$

=> Ans - (A)
