60% of the cost price of a glass is 25% of its selling price. What is the profit percentage?
Let's assume theĀ cost price andĀ selling price of each glass is 'cp' and 'sp' respectively.
60% of the cost price of a glass is 25% of its selling price.
60% of cp = 25% of sp
$$\frac{60}{100}\times cp=\frac{25}{100}\times\ sp$$
$$12\times cp=5\times\ sp$$
$$\frac{12}{5}=\frac{sp}{cp}$$
So sp = 12y and cp = 5y
Profit percentageĀ = $$\frac{\left(sp-cp\right)}{cp}\times100$$
= $$\frac{\left(12y-5y\right)}{5y}\times100$$
=Ā $$\frac{7y}{5y}\times100$$
= 140%
