Question 73

A field is in the form of a circle.The cost of Fencing around it at ₹11 per metre is ₹2,420. What is the area (in $$m^{2}$$) of the field? (Taken $$\pi=\frac{22}{7}$$)

Solution

 Fencing is always done at boundary of the field.

In a case of circular field, It is circumference.

Circumference of field = $$\frac{\left(total\ \cos t\ of\ fencing\right)}{rate\ of\ fencing\ }=\ \frac{2420}{11}$$

= 220 m

As we know,

Circumference $$=2\times\ \pi\ \times\ r$$

$$r=\ \frac{2420}{\left(2\times\ \frac{22}{7}\right)}$$

by solving, we get

r = 35 m

Area of circular field = $$\pi\ \times\ r^2$$

= $$\frac{22}{7}\times\ 35\times\ 35$$

= 3850 $$m^2$$

Hence option A is correct.
