Question 72

Study the given bar-graph and answer the question that follows.
The bar-graph given below shows the total selling price (in ₹) and the total cost price (in ₹) of five different flowers in a flower shop on a particular day.

The number of roses, lilies and sunflowers sold from that shop on that day were 7, 5, and 10, respectively. Find the sum of the profits earned by selling a rose, a lily and a sunflower on that day.

Solution

Total profit on roses = selling price - cost price = 800-450 = 350

Total profit on lilies = selling price - cost price = 720-540 = 180

Total profit on sunflowers = selling price - cost price = 630-490 = 140

The number of roses, lilies and sunflowers sold from that shop on that day were 7, 5, and 10, respectively.

Now here the total profit of each type of flowers is divided by the number of flowers sold that day to get the profit on one type of flower.

Sum of the profits earned by selling a rose, a lily and a sunflower on that day = $$\frac{350}{7}+\frac{180}{5}+\frac{140}{10}$$

= 50+36+14

= ₹100
