The sum of a non-zero number and ten times its reciprocal is 7. Find the number.

Solution

Let the number be $$x$$

According to ques, => $$x + \frac{10}{x} = 7$$

=> $$\frac{x^2 + 10}{x} = 7$$

=> $$x^2 + 10 = 7x$$

=> $$x^2 - 7x + 10 = 0$$

=> $$x^2 - 5x - 2x + 10 = 0$$

=> $$x(x - 5) - 2(x - 5) = 0$$

=> $$(x - 5)(x - 2) = 0$$

=> $$x = 5 , 2$$

Among the options, $$x = 5$$
