If an electricity bill is paid before the due date, one gets a reduction of 2 percent on the amount of the bill. By paying the bill before the due date. Rajiv got a reduction of ₹40 and Ravina got a reduction of ₹80. What is the sum of the electricity bills of Rajiv and Ravina?

Solution

Rajiv got a reduction of ₹40.

So 2% = ₹40

1% = ₹20

electricity bills of Rajiv = 100% = ₹2000 Eq.(i)

Ravina got a reduction of ₹80.

So 2% = ₹80

1% = ₹40

electricity bills of Ravina = 100% = ₹4000 Eq.(ii)

Sum of the electricity bills of Rajiv and Ravina = Eq.(i)+Eq.(ii)

= ₹2000+₹4000

= ₹6000
